I’ll admit that I did cry a little when I was flipping the channels this weekend and so when I happened across the two Democratic presidential candidates at this “Compassion Forum” in Pennsylvania. I could care less about the religious beliefs of my President — being a born-again doesn’t protect you from being a bad president (viz. Bush II and Carter), and having very vague religious beliefs is no bar to being a successful president (viz. Reagan and Lincoln). All that matters is that you have a religious devotion to the Constitution. “What is your favorite Bible passage?” as a question that tells you anything about a political candidate is no more relevant than “What is your favorite Seinfeld episode?”
